construction are arranged below in chronological order, with the most recent photos nearer the
top of the page. The weekly write-ups contain short blurbs and small photos, which
when clicked will lead you to slide shows of the work being done during a
particular time period.
Week
23 Construction
We have a certificate of occupancy. All items necessary for
the issuance of the certificate were completed on Tuesday July 10, 2007
and the first use of the building by any church group was by a group of
youngsters from the Vacation Bible School which is going on during the
week of July 9-13. Well done to Harold Morgan, Gene Burnette, Tom
Gauntt, Wayne Villadsen, Carl Schuchardt, Robert George and everyone else
who continued to work on the punch list in order to get the certificate.
Thanks to Suzan Martin and the Saint Andrew Women for preparing the
kitchen for use, and to everyone else who contributed in any way to making
this dream come true.

Final Weekly Report
Week
22 Construction
Week 22 was a week of small but important project completion which
moved us very close to a certificate of occupancy, but we did not quite
get there as we needed a couple of items completed which we did not
accomplish. Still to be completed are a couple of air conditioning
and safety railing tasks and it looks as if those will be completed early
next week. Stay tuned for more info.

Week
21 Construction
Week 21 got us even closer to occupancy with the completion of
several important remaining projects. Carpet is now down in the
fellowship hall and has been completed in all other rooms.
Volunteers swept and vacuumed all of the rooms except the fellowship hall
which has a plastic protective covering down on much of it. Work is
progressing on the fire protection system, and the two AC units for the
fellowship hall are awaiting a part in order to turn them on.
Ceiling tile is in throughout the building. Landscaping for the
remainder of the area surrounding the building is in progress with much of
the dirt smoothing being done by volunteers. The south porch has had
the concrete finished and looks very nice. The cabinets in the
bathrooms are being modified to meet ADA standards and will be finished
soon. Quarter-round molding has been placed where needed in much of
the building. All in all it was a good week, and while several items
remain to be completed we are getting closer to building use.

Week
20 Construction
Week 20 saw an amazing effort to get the building ready for
dedication and it took a concerted effort by our contractors and
volunteers to accomplish that. Windows were cleaned, vinyl work
completed, brickwork and porches cleaned, yard prep for sod laid, paving
of the parking lots and western drive through paved, sprinkler system
repaired and installed, landscaping completed, and tables and chairs for
the fellowship hall delivered and stored. Sunday school rooms and
offices were carpeted, tile was laid in the remainder of the hallway and
foyers, and the HVAC worked to get three of the five AC units up and
running. All in all it was a great effort and the photos of the
weeks activities reflect what was accomplished.

Week
19 Construction
Brick laying continued, the drive through was prepped, air
conditioning duct work progressed nicely, wiring was pulled and finished,
the bathrooms were close to completion, and the kitchen had more hardware
added. It will be a race to the finish, but we are hopeful of making
the June 17 deadline. If you have time to volunteer Week 20 will be
the week to show up at the building site.

Week 18
Construction
More brick was laid - lots of them, and inside the baseboards and
door trim were painted and so were the walls in the offices and Sunday
school rooms. The kitchen was nearer completion with the placement
of the marble counter tops and the delivery of sinks and other stainless
steel equipment. Outside, the soffits and trim was being added to
and the side walk and entrance pads were poured. It was a busy week
with much progress. Thanks to all who are making this project move
along so well, and especially to David Vosloh, Harold Morgan and the
volunteers from the men of St. Andrew By The Sea. To view some of
the events of the week click the small photo below.

Week
17 Construction
Exterior work moved toward completion with more brick being laid.
The north exterior wall was almost completely bricked, and much work had
been completed on the last remaining wall, the west wall. The siding
crew began their work on the soffits and porch ceilings which will add a
nice finishing touch when completed. Inside, work continued on the
window and door trim, painting of the walls, hanging of the suspended
ceiling, electrical work, and heating and air conditioning. Our
volunteers worked on the sprinkler system and electrical wiring for the
church sign...both demanding work. Thanks to David and to them and
to all the workmen on the job for bring the building closer to occupancy
and use.

Week
16 Construction
Bricks, sheetrock and tile in the kitchen and bathrooms were the
big items completed this week. Cabinets for the kitchen were
delivered and stored in the main room of the fellowship hall. Lots
of volunteer effort was needed to keep the site clean and to move old
brick left over from the sanctuary construction to the area where the
bricklayers were working. Progress is being made on schedule and
perhaps the bricklaying will be nearly completed this week. David
Vosloh and his crews and our volunteers are doing a great job. Be
sure you tell them so when you see them. Photos of the
progress may be viewed by clicking the small photo below.

Week
15 Construction
There was more brick laying and sheetrock
hanging this week, and lots of both. Much of the east side of the
building was bricked, and many more rooms inside the structure received
sheetrock.

Week
14 Construction
Week 14 was about brick laying and sheetrock and plenty of both.
Take a look at the progress made this week by clicking the small photo
below.

Week
13 Construction
Week 13 was the week the shingles went on the roof, electrical work
continued, windows were added, and the trench for the power line was dug
by hand by volunteers from the congregation. Photos of all of these
may be viewed by clicking the small photo below to initiate the slide show
for Week 13.

Week
12 Construction
Progress in week 12 was made in several areas of the construction.
The insulation of the exterior continued in preparation for the brick
which will come later, and all of the sheetrock in the ceiling appears to
be completed. Electrical work continued inside as did construction
of all of the walls for the classrooms. The sprinkler system and air
conditioning duct work continued as well. Volunteers helped with a
number of areas and there are still jobs to be done if you have time to
commit to a few of the small but important tasks that need to be done as
construction goes along. Contact Harold Morgan or David Vosloh if
you would like to help. A few photos of the progress made
during the week can be viewed by clicking the small photo below.

Week
11 Construction
Week 11 saw activity in many areas of construction. The
porches were added to, conduit was laid in the ground for the electrical
connections, sheetrock for fire protection above the hanging ceiling was
put in place and mudded, additional walls were constructed, outside
insulation was attached to the concrete block, and air conditioning duct
work was installed in portions of the building. Volunteers manned
shovels, screw drivers and brooms to do their part in seeing to it that
construction continued uninterrupted. Click the small photo below to
view some of the activity during week 11.

Week
10 Construction
Week 10 was devoted to truss and roof work, the digging of more
trenches for utilities outside the building and work on the interior.
Interior work consisted mainly of the putting up firring strips on which
the electrical outlets will be placed and the sheetrock will be nailed.
Several more sections of the interior walls were also erected.
Volunteers assisted with the clean-up of the parking lot for Easter Sunday
services. Enjoy the photo in the slide show by clicking the small
photo below.

Week
9 Construction
Work continued on the roof and began on the installation of the
fire sprinkler system. Sheet rock was delivered and work on the
porches on all four sides of the building saw additional work. A
utility trench was dug on the west and north side of the parking lot and
as the week came to a close the roofing crew was still busy custom cutting
truss parts and adding plywood decking and the black rubber coating for
the plywood. Volunteers worked at keeping the site clean and filling
the utility trench. It was a busy week with good weather and as
Saturday morning came round the roofers were back at their work. To
view photos of the accomplishments of the week click the small photo below
for a slide show.

Week
8 Construction
Week eight was about trusses and more trusses and then some,
including laying the first decking on the roof. There was also some
more inside construction as well as the pouring of porches on three of the
four sides. To view what took place click the small photo below to
start the slide show.

Week
7 Construction
Week seven saw the completion of the laying of the concrete block
for the walls and filling them with concrete, the building of some
of the interior rooms in the fellowship hall, the delivery and placement
of some of the trusses and the pouring of the foundations for the porches
of the new building. It was a big week and we should all be grateful
for the work David Vosloh and the crews he is overseeing for us. Not
only are the paid crews hard at work, so too are the volunteers from the
church and the members who are feeding them. If you want to join in
the effort, call Harold Morgan. To view photos of the events of the
week click the three photos below. The photo on the right contains
three photos of work done on Saturday September 18, 2007.

Week
6 Construction
Week six was all about laying block and more block. It was
also the week preparations were made for erecting the load bearing wall
inside the building, and materials for that construction were delivered.
To view photos taken during week six click the small photo below.

Week
5 Construction
Week five was the week the slab was poured, smoothed, and began
drying. It was the week that saw the start of framing of the
doors and windows by member volunteers of St. Andrew By The Sea and the
placement of scaffolding for another 6 courses of brick. Women of
the church brought lunch to the crews of workers and volunteers on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday was an off day due to weather
alerts. To enjoy the photos of the events of the week, please click
the two small photos below.

Week
4 Construction
Week four of construction saw progress on on several fronts.
More block was laid, the site was sprayed for termites, leveled and the
vapor barrier was put down. Weather permitting the slab should be
poured early next week. Volunteers moved a portion of the playground fence
and the slide assembly in order to provide more room for access to the
western wall of the new building. A slide show of some of the
activity during the week is available and may be accessed by clicking the
small photo below.

Week
3 Construction
Week three of construction was primarily about preparing the
foundation for the pouring of the slab, and erecting concrete block walls,
placing the rebar in the appropriate places, digging the trenches for
water and electricity feeds to the site, and rough in of plumbing and
electricity. There were many volunteers on hand to assist with this
work. If you have a few hours to give, please let Harold Morgan or
David Vosloh know when you will be available.

Week
2 Construction
Week two of construction was primarily about pouring the footings
and preparing the site for the pouring of the slab next week. Hired
workers and church volunteers were on hand to take care of the many tasks
needing to be completed. Lunch was served by the St. Andrew Women on
Monday and Wednesday. The completion of the footings is a big step
toward getting the building completed on time and we were blessed by clear
cool weather. You will notice in the photo the "high tech" truck
used to pour the concrete for the footings, as well as the manual labor
needed in other places to make the high tech stuff work. If you look
carefully you will see church volunteers moving brick, one at a time, so
the road to the north of the sanctuary can be completed. A slide
show of the progress made in week two may be viewed by clicking the small
photo below. Enjoy and remember.......you too can volunteer.

Work
Begins
The construction of our new building began Friday February 2, 2007.
The building permit for the foundation was in hand, contractors were on
site, volunteers were in place to do their part, and David Vosloh was
there to supervise it all. Realizing that only a few folks could
take off from work to be on the site, and aware that the weather was cold
and damp, the webmaster took several photos and created a slide show so
that all might see the events of the day as they unfolded. The
photos speak for themselves. You may start the slide show by
